Taktikewl AR15 Stuff From AIM Surplus
Not sure if you look at AIM Surplus' website or not, but the overpriced tactikewl stuff for the AR is getting a bit silly, even from Magpul.
What you REALLY need (rather than a proper mindset, solid training, a reliable weapon, or decent ammo) is: http://www.aimsurplus.com/product.as...m=XMAG330DKEAR Magpul UBR Adjustable Utility Battle Rifle Stock $251 for a buttstock!!! (not even addressing the point that the AR15 is not a "battle rifle", being an intermediate caliber weapon) http://www.aimsurplus.com/product.as...m=XMAG501dkear Magpul MS2 Multi Mission Sling Dark Earth A mere $47.45 for a nylon sling, giving the user "a versatile weapon-retention solution for a multitude of tactical environments and missions." THERE'S MORE!!! It also "allows an operator to leverage the maneuverability of single-point attachment for direct-action, or two-point attachment for stability." MBA-dweeb warning....any time you see the word "leverage", "initiative", or "strategic", you know you're in the sights of a MBA graduate, looking for his bonus this year (often at your expense). Duck & cover. Of course, the sling fully utilizes the Magpul ASAP plate (sold separately) to permit the user to leverage strategic initiatives and optimize cutting edge tactics, while operating on the foreskin of technology.:4_1_72: And if you buy the tactikewl stock AND the tactikewl sling right now, we'll even offer to sell you the latest & greatest: http://www.aimsurplus.com/product.aspx?item=MMAG241Blk Magpul Polymer 30rd .223/5.56 AR15/M16 EMAG Maglevel Magazine...for a mere $21.80 a piece. I like Magpul, and own/use/trust their mags. The advertising hype and the prices, however, seem to be a bit much. |

You cherry picked examples. Regular P-Mags are only $15.

Usually when I read the marketing word "tactical" I lose interest. That one word has sold millions of dollars worth of stuff people don't need for anything other than being snobs. Use of that "tactical" word in describing gear tends to discredit the product somewhat in my opinion. I like my AR's pretty simple and close to stock. Spend the savings on ammo.

Te only "Tacti-cool" thing I like thats come out latley is Magpuls new Angled Front Grip (AFG). First reports are that it kicks a lot of butt and its only about 30 bucks.
Im not super into the tacticool thing, but I do have a weaver railed front end on my AK because I like the option of being able to add a nice optic/red dot and have a front grip if I so choose. THere are some things that really do improve form and function and there are a great many more than are simply for $$$ and showing off. I prefer the former. |

Hey JJ,
I was able to pickup the sling for just under $30 shipped and it is a damn nice sling. $50ish is too much for it but it is pretty sharp. I also picked up the Magpul ACS stock for $100 shipped and I am very happy with the feel of it. Not sure about the UBR stock, that is just too damn expensive for a stock. I barely could justify the ACS stock at a discounted price. The AFG is really nice. I got all of these in dark earth just for the hell of it to change up the look on my 2nd AR. If it wasn't for the fact of starting a new job that is paying about 3x what my prior job is I wouldn't have bought any of this stuff. It really isn't necessary especially at suggested retail prices. |

I really like Magpuls stuff. But you can get at least some of their stuff cheaper.
DSG is where I do my shopping, they have some great deals and great customer service. I was able to pick up a flat dark earth MOE kit, including rear stock, pistol grip, and handguard, as well as G.I. Milspec stock set for $100. That is really good. Then I added the ASAP plate to it which is solid as hell, Im just waiting on the sling. I dont care what anyone says, if that sling is comfy, and is able to transition from 1 to 2 points and be adjusted in a seconds, $50 is a decent price. This video highlighted all I needed to see about their stuff |
